Life-Love 32: Watching the mists rise from the sea at night

There are nights that we find ourselves beside the sea. Even if we live inland, sometimes a business trip, a vacation or the simple roll of the dice of fate takes us away from the land and to the coast. We do what we need to do, but somehow we feel more energized, stronger, more vital. The air is enlivening and full of an electricity that pours into our soul and fills us up with confidence and energy. We sense the vastness of the sea and it opens great pools of potential and possibility within us. At night, if we are fortunate enough, we might get a glimpse of the evening sea: mists rising from the waters, the moon reflected in silvery currents on the shimmering water and silver-lit tunnels through the foggy expanses. We see ghostly ships in the distance and smaller sailboats and coastal buildings framed, with misty soft edges, making black silhouettes against the moon-bright waters. The mists lift from the sea and we peer into it indistinct depths. We feel the mystery of our own lives, our relationships – the mystery of our successes and our sadnesses. That is the beauty of the sea: infinite possibility and mystery, like our own selves and lives.
