Today was an excellent day at Mac for me. Not only was it the last day of class and the end of a superb Level III seminar on Communications Campaigns for Not-for-Profits and Elections, but we had a distinguished visitor, my old friend, the Honourable Paddy Torsney. It was a real thrill for the students to have Paddy give an interactive lecture about her varied experiences in political organising, staff, and as a very active MP for 12 years. She also discussed how she was the founding chair of the women’s caucus and how gender sometimes plays a role in politics. Even though the lecture was at 8.30am, we had a full house and Paddy had them interacting and asking lots of questions. She also kept them laughing with lots of jokes and “political insider quips.” An excellent lecture.
