Canada Day in Parkdale-High Park

I had a great Canada Day at Gerard Kennedy’s community picnic. Lots of great people, artists, ballet and modern dancers who did a pretty “chess game dance.” Sunny weather, blue skies and great hot dogs and watermelon – what could be better?

It was great to catch up with old friends and then to go out for dinner at Classico in Bloor West. Inexpensive and great veal sandwhich. Pinot grigio as the shadows lengthened and breeze died down. A man played easy listening tunes on his acoustic guitar at just the right level to complement the comfortable, easy conversations around tables on the patio. I love Toronto’s neighbourhood restaurants – it is the one place where the Queen City lets its hair down and allows its citizens to have peaceful moments together.

A great day.
